What is IP reputation?

The standing of the IP address your mail is sent from.

How it works in practice

On a shared IP it is the combined behaviour of everyone using that address; on a dedicated IP it's yours alone. New IPs have no history, which receivers treat with caution, so they need a gradual warm-up.

The common mistake

Sending at full volume from a brand-new IP on day one.
