Delivery
What is Email verification?
Checking whether an address is worth sending to before you do.
How it works in practice
Verification covers syntax, whether the domain exists and accepts mail, disposable and role addresses and typos. It can't prove a mailbox exists on providers that accept everything, and probing mailboxes over SMTP can get the checking server blocklisted.
The common mistake
Treating 'verified' as a guarantee and skipping list hygiene afterwards.
